NERPA505 Update

Hello, 505!  I hope all of you are enjoying the holidays.  This is a brief update with just a few reminders.

(1) There will be no squadron meeting on Tuesday, 29 Dec., due to family activities and travel for several of our members and their families.  Meetings will resume on 5 Jan. with Safety Briefing & testing night.  PT and drill testing will be offered, as well as written testing pending the availability of our testing officer.  The uniform of the day will be BDUs.
(2) The date settled on by the cadets for our squadron dinner is 19 Jan., location to be announced.  As squadron activities director, I will be contacting parents and caregivers soon about some ideas for the dinner shared by some of the cadets.
(3) Those of you who have helped with Winterfest posters, please email me a list of every place that allowed you to put up a poster, the name(s) of cadets who participated, and the hours worked.  I will be sure that each one receives a letter verifying community service hours.
(4) The Matheny family plans to be out of town 28-31 Dec.  Ch. Matheny can be contacted via cell phone if necessary.

See you on 5 Jan.!

I plan to be out of town with my family 28-31 Dec.  I may be contacted by email or cell phone if necessary.

This is my prayer:  That each of you have a blessed holiday season, and that your new year will be the best ever!

For those who may be interested in reading a brief seasonal letter that I mail out, I've posted it here.

If I may be of service to any of you, don't hesitate to call.

NERPA505

(1) Greetings 505! Tuesday We will be working on the Redstone rocket phase. This should be a very good experience for all cadets, so all cadets are encouraged to come and participate. The uniform of the day is B.D.U.'s.

(2) Remember to check with your parents about the squadron dinner, the suggested dates were Jan. 12th or 19th.

(3) The squadron will be helping at the Warren Country Winterfest, so all cadets and senior members who are free to help please inform Chaplain Matheny. We have been asked to help with parking at the event this year on Saturday, and will be working with the Warren County Fire Police and the Police Explorers.

(4) All those who were given the posters for the Winterfest need to get them posted. Keep track of the time you spend posting them, and were they are posted.  Turn your time in to Ch. Matheny.  The time will count toward the thirty hours needed for a Community Service Ribbon.

(5) Due to travel and family activities for many squadron members, there will be no meeting on the 29th. Meetings will resume on Tuesday Jan. 5th.

NERPA505 Update

Hello, 505!  I hope everyone had a great weekend, and not too slippery of a Sunday morning!  It was very icy where I live.

(1) Tuesday is Emergency Services emphasis night.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.  Ground team members should be sure their 24 hour packs are in order.
(2) Testing will be available pending the availability of our testing officer.
(3) Re. C/CMSgt. Matheny, cadets should plan ahead to have a meeting to continue discussing revision of the squadron meeting schedule.
(4) Re. Capt. Hagberg, PT will also be offered.  Please bring clothing and shoes suitable for volley ball.
(5) Don't forget to read and sign the safety briefing if you have not already done so.  It is posted on the bulletin board.

Stay safe!  Check for fire hazards at home.  Wear appropriate winter clothing.  Have fun and enjoy the winter!

Be proud of who you are and what you do in CAP!

Weather Update

The National Weather Service has switched back and forth from a Winter Storm Warning to a Winter Weather Advisory twice over the past 10 minutes.  Interpretation:  they probably don't have a clue what the weather is really going to do.  The advisory is currently to be in effect at 1900 hrs, but if you feel that it is unsafe to travel, then it is.

Just a reminder that if a Winter Storm Warning is issued, the squadron meeting is automatically canceled.  As it stands, we will meet tonight unless Capt. Hagberg decides otherwise.  Please exercise extreme caution while traveling and watch out for the other guy!

NERPA505 Update

Greetings, 505!  "Thank-you" to those who helped with our display at the Warren Mall last Saturday.  Participating during the day were C/CMSgt. Matheny, C/SSgt. Hagberg, C/SSgt. Matheny, Bryan Johnson, Natalie Peterson, Capt. Hagberg, and Ch. Matheny.  The cadets and pre cadets did an excellent job representing the squadron!

SM SSgt. Atwood will not be available testing on Tuesday night.

(1) Tuesday is Character Development and Leadership emphasis night.  The uniform of the day is USAF blues.  BDUs are appropriate for those who do not have blues.
(2) If you were not at the safety briefing last week, be sure to read the briefing posted on the bulletin board and sign the log.

  Semper Vigilans!

Be proud of who you are and what you do in CAP!

See you Tuesday!

Squadron Dinner

From the feedback gleaned during tonight's meeting (1 Nov 09), it was decided that it will be best to postpone the squadron dinner until after the holidays.  We will attempt to work out an agreeable date.  Suggestions are welcomed.
