NERPA505 Update

Hello 505!  I hope everyone had a great week and a wonderful Sunday.  Congratulations to SM Alan Fuller on his promotion to 2 Lieutenant!  2 Lt. Fuller is an asset to the squadron and we are happy to have him with us!

It's good to be home from the Pa. Wing Encampment (and I think I speak for the four cadet who attended, too!).  It was a great week, and everyone did a great job.  The cadets will have a lot to share to help others get ready for the next encampment.  It's never too early to start planning for a great experience!  You can download and read newsletters from the encampment by clicking here.  Hopefully, the cadets will have some photos to share with us!   Check the encampment Web site occasionally for updated photos.

(1) Tuesday is a fifth Tuesday "causal night."  Capt. Hagberg said to wear civilian clothing and plan for a relaxed evening.  Discussion will include plans for the upcoming 4th of July parade.
(2) Tell you friends about the article about the squadron that appeared in Pennlines.  Thanks, again, to 2 Lt. Fuller for arranging it.  You can download a copy by clicking here.
(3) Finally, due to our congregation's Vacation Bible School, 28 Jun through 2 Jul, neither C/2 Lt. Matheny, C/TSgt. Matheny, nor I will be able to attend this Tuesday's meeting.  I hope the rest of you can attend to support the squadron!

Semper Vigilans!    Be proud of who you are and what you do in CAP!

Re. FTX at Heart's Content

Re. Maj. Nick Melnick: The FTX scheduled for 19-20 Jun, at Heart's Content has been rescheduled, due to potential conflicts with a gathering of the so-called Rainbow Family.  The new date will be 24 Jul.

NERPA505 Update

Hello, 505!

(1) Tuesday is Emergency Services emphasis.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.  Testing may also be offered, pending the availability of a testing officer.
(2) Re. C/2 Lt. Matheny, time will also be provided for uniform maintenance instruction.  Special emphasis will be given to last minute preparations for Cadet Basic Encampment and Cadet Leadership School.
(3) New cadets who have not set up their eServices account should plan to work with me long enough to do so.  The eServices account is important for information and training.
(4) Cadets and senior members who are available on 19-20 Jun, are encouraged to remember the FTX at Heart's Content.  See the previous update on the squadron blog for details.

Semper Vigilans!    See you Tuesday, and don't forget to invite a friend!  Be proud of who you are and what you do in CAP!

NERPA505 Update

Hello, 505! Here are the updates for this week. Congratulations are again in order for the following cadets: Jason Peterson, for fulfilling the requirements for the Wright Brothers Achievement and promotion to C/SSgt. Bryan Johnson III, for fulfilling the requirements of the General Hap Arnold Achievement and promotion to C/A1C. Natalie Peterson, for the fulfilling the requirements of the General Hap Arnold Achievement and promotion to C/A1C. Austin Confer, for fulfilling the requirements for the General John F. Curry Achievement and promotion to C/Amn. Great job, cadets! Keep up the good work!

(1) Tuesday is Character Development emphasis and leadership night. Don't forget to bring your "Flight Logs." The uniform of the day is Class B blues for cadets who have them, BDUs for those who do not have blues. Blues or Corporate uniform for senior members.
(2) Cadet Basic Encampment and Cadet Leadership School: 505 plans to send four cadets to Fort Indiantown Gap for Enc. and CLS, including C/2 Lt. Matheny, C/TSgt. Matheny, C/TSgt. Hagberg, and C/A1C Peterson. Time is running out to be sure you are prepared to go! If you have any questions, now is the time to ask them. The source for information on both is: http://www.pawgcls.org/.
(3) For Senior Members and Cadets who are not going to the Basic Encampment: An FTX is planned at Hearts Content on 19-20 Jun (staying over the 18th and 19th) to practice compass navigation, GPS navigation, and orienteering. See last week's announcements on the squadron blog for additional information.
(4) Safety reminder: Every CAP member, regardless of class of membership, must complete a monthly safety briefing, either online via their eServices account, or in person, in order to participate in CAP activities. Additionally, all members must be present at one face-to-face safety briefing per quarter. Although safety is briefed and emphasized at every meeting, 505's monthly "face-to-face safety briefing" is always on the first Tuesday of each month.
(5) We are registered to march in the 4th of July parade in Warren, Saturday, 3 Jul. The uniform will be Class B blues for cadets, with tie. Uniforms need to be complete and appearance needs to meet CAP regulations. There is plenty of time to get squared away, but don't wait until the last minute! Some uniform items may be available at the squadron.

Semper Vigilans! Be proud of who you are and what you do in CAP!

See you Tuesday, and don't forget to invite a friend!
