NERPA505 Update for the Week of 16 Jan 2011

Hello 505! I hope everyone plans to support our Squadron Dinner on Tuesday night! The uniform of the day is USAF style blues for cadets and blues or CAP corporate uniform for seniors. Civilian dinner dress is also acceptable for those who may not have the proper uniform. The 505 Color Guard will post the Colors at 1900 hrs. Captain Hagberg has requested that the Color Guard be present early enough for a run through of their performance.

A few members have said that they cannot attend because of other obligations. That makes the presence of all the rest of us the more important!

The NWS is forecasting the possibility of freezing rain, so we will keep an eye on developments. We will reschedule if necessary.

NERPA505 Update for the week of 2 Jan 2011

Hello 505! I hope everyone enjoyed at least a little "down time" over the holidays and is "ramped up" for a great New Year! This update was a little delayed while awaiting input.

Congratulations to 2 Lt Alan Fuller for completing his Civil Air Patrol Officer Basic Course! The OBC and Squadron Leadership School are required for completing professional development Level II for senior members.

(1) Tuesday is monthly Safety Briefing, Testing & Mentoring, and Physical Fitness Emphasis night. The uniform of the day is BDUs for cadets. Remember to bring appropriate and modest PT clothing. Cadets who are testing online are expected to do so on their own time, but cadets who have elected to test on paper (mainly cadets who have been in the program before testing came online) will be given the opportunity to test. Remember, it is your responsibility to be sure you are ready to test, to track your personal progress, and to inform your cadet leadership when you are ready to test. Your mentor will help you along the way, but it is your responsibility to know where you are and what you need to do next. Every member, cadet and senior, should have a mentor that you can consult with regularly.
(2) We need to finalize the date for our Squadron Dinner. Proposed dates have been 18 or 25 Jan, with the 18th seeming to be the best date so far. Ch Matheny has been filling the position of squadron activities officer, so he needs your input no later than this Tuesday night.
(3) Dates to remember:
  • 8 Jan, 1000 to 1300 hrs, Group 6 Commander's Call and Cadet Advisory Council meeting at the West Middlesex VFW. The VFW is located at 3747 New Castle Road, about 1 1/2 miles south of the West Middlesex Raddison on Route 18. Uniform of the day will be Blues or CAP Distinctive. Our CAC representatives are C/2Lt Matheny and C/SMSgt Hagberg. All cadets and seniors are invited to attend.
  • 18 Jan, 1830 hrs (?)
  • Applications for National Cadet Summer Activities will be accepted by NHQ until 15 Jan. Interviews for NCSA will begin at 0900 hrs, 15 Jan, at Wing HQ, FTIG.
  • 30 Apr, Wing Cadet Conference at FTIG.

Civil Air Patrol in the News: Airman realizing life goal ; Anti-terrorist training exercise held ; Watching your new best friends having the time of their lives ; Homeland Security train mission takes place in Eau Claire ; Superior squadron joins Air Force training mission
