NERPA505 Update for the Week of 6 Feb 2011

Hello 505!  I am a bit behind due to being out of town for a while, so pleas be patient with me while I try to get caught up.

(1) Let's plan for Tuesday to be "Safety Day" for 505 (subject to change per Capt. Hagberg).  As of this year, there will be no more Safety Down Day in October.  The day has be renamed "Safety Day" and must be held in the first quarter of the year.  If you cannot make it to Safety Day, it will need to be made up so it can be entered into your personal record for safety compliance.  This important change is referenced in the The Safety Beacon — Civil Air Patrol's Safety Newsletter — January 2011.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.
(2) Dates to remember:
  • 12 Feb 11, 0800-1630 hrs, Meadville  Sqdn 503 will host a Radio Operators Authorization (ROA) Class.  ROA is required for many of the ES positions listed on the 101
card.  The class will be held at Meadville Sqdn 503's Winter meeting location at  Port Meadville  Airport.  Members who wish to attend should inform Capt. Hagberg or Maj. Brown.
  • 19 Feb 11, squadron trip to WW II Museum, Eldred, Pa.
  • 5-6 Mar 11, Basic Cadet Orientation, Ford City, PA.  More details to follow.
  • 12-13 Mar 11, Group 6 Squadron Leadership School.  More details to follow.
