NERPA505 Update

Hello, 505!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  C/CMSgt Matheny is home from Cadet Basic Encampment no worse for the wear.  He has a lot of great information to share with us.  C/A1C Peterson is still planning to attend Hawk Mountain Ranger School this summer.  We look forward to hearng about his experience, too!

Is your membership up for renewal?  If you do not know, check the date on your CAP ID card.  Please do not allow your membership to lapse!

(1) By order of the Commander, Capr. Hagberg, the uniform of the day for the Color Guard this Tuesday is Class B blues.  Plan to practice for the upcoming 4th of July parade. Others may wear BDUs or alternate senior uniforms.  We need a few cadets and parents to volunteer to walk the parade route to help distribute treats and literature.
(2) This is a 5th Tuesday, so we will plan to work on at least one Emergency Services item as we continue to prepare our ground search and rescue abilities.  Since we are not a flying squadron, a good ground team is the logical point of emphasis for the Emergency Services part of the three-fold CAP mission of Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs and Emergency Services.
(3) With summer here and school out, all of us need to be vigilant not to become careless in our study, training and safety.  All of us, seniors and cadets, should try to block out a set amount of time (try for at leas an hour) each week to work on professional development.  Last summer testing and promotions slowed to a trickle.  Lets try to keep that from happening this summer.
(4) Lets each try to invite at least one new person to every meeting.  They may decide not to come, but they will not even think about it if they are never asked.  Our squadron is at the minimum of 16 members now.  We need to try to reach at least 20 members over the summer months, if possible.  Talk it up!  Let everyone know how exciting it is to be part of the CAP/USAF Auxiliary team!  Parents, if you are not interested in joing CAP as a senior member, please consider joining as a Cadet Sponsor Member.  The dues for Sponsor Members are reduced, they may wear the corporate uniform (but not USAF uniforms), they can qualify for a CAP driver's license to drive CAP vehicles, and they can work with CAP cadets other than your own children during meetings, fund raising events, and other occasions.  You can give as much or as little time as you have available.  Please give it some thought!

Semper Vigilans!  See yout Tuesday!
