NERPA505 Update

Greetings, 505!  I hope everyone had a great weekend (better than mine, anyway.  I had a virus of some kind.)  Its good to be back home from the PAWG Conference.  Group 6 was well represented, as usual.  I can't speak for the rest of the program, but PAWG chaplain Walters put together an excellent program for chaplains.  Although I still can't figure out what I did to get it, I was honored to receive the PAWG Chaplain of the Year Award.

Capt. Shelley Fleming, who served as Maj. Gary Fleming's Chief of Staff for the past year, was appointed the new Group 6 Commander.  Congratulations, Capt. Fleming!  As was mentioned previously, Maj. Gary Fleming has been appointed to PAWG Vice Commander (West).  Hopefully, we'll receive a report of all of the other awards and commendations.  Capt. and C/SSgt. Hagberg will update us on what transpired during the Wing Commander's Call.

Congratulations are in order to Daniel Hagberg, for completing the Wright Brothers Achievement and promotion to C/SSgt.  Congratulations are also in order to Evan Matheny, for completing the Neil A. Armstrong Achievement.  There is no promotion for this award, but it is the step before the General Billy Mitchell Achievement and promotion to C/2Lt.

(1)  Tuesday is Emergency Service emphasis.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.
(2) PT testing will be offered for those who need it, and weather permitting, an opportunity will be offered for the mile run at the Beatty track.  Please remember to bring appropriated exercise and/or running gear.
(3) The word from Maj. Baker, G6 Director of Operations, is that the fall SAREX probably will not take place because of scheduling and authorization problems.  We will keep you up to date as information becomes available to us.
(4) Plan ahead to attend the Group 6 Conference and Banquet on 14 Nov.  It would be great if we could have a good turnout from 505.  Check with Capt. Hagberg or Ch. Matheny for a registration form, or download the one attached to this message.  The RSVP date is 1 Nov.  If cost or transportation is an issue, let me know and we'll try to work something out.  It would be good to know how many from our squadron plan to attend this Tuesday's meeting.
(5) I am scheduled to have a display for the CAP and the squadron at Beatty Middle School on 22 Nov., during lunch break.  Those of you who attend Beatty can help our recruiting effort by encouraging your friends to visit the display and pick up some literature.

Stay sharp!  Be proud of who you are and of what you do in CAP!

  Semper Vigilans!

See you Tuesday!
