NERPA505 Update

Greetings 505!  I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather.  More importantly, I hope everyone took time this Memorial Day to reflect in gratitude on the service that our military, past and present, has rendered to all of us.  Let us be especially thankful for those who gave their lives in our service, and for those who are laying their lives on the line for us today, even as I write.  May we never take for granted the freedoms that we enjoy, or the God who gave us those freedoms, and may we never be neglectful of the responsibilities that freedom brings to each of us.

(1) Our Color Guard did a fine job representing 505 during the Russell Jubilee.  Some pictures will be posted on nerpa505.blogspot.com, thanks to John and Susan Montour.  Additional photos can be viewed at http://cu.timesobserver.com/pages/gallery.php?gallery=299893.  Thanks too, to Maj. Chuck Wedge for arranging for us to borrow the Group 6 van to use in the parade.
(2) Tuesday night is Aerospace Education emphasis night.  We will cover a module in Dimensions and, if time allows, discuss some current events.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.
(3) Reprinted from the last Update: All of us need to work harder on recruiting. We stand to lose a few more inactive members over May and June. We do not want to lose anyone, but sometimes people find CAP not to be for them, or drop out for other reasons. We must maintain no less than 16 members to hold on to our squadron charter. Our current total membership is now at the minimum. Our Group Commander understands how hard it is to grow, but if we get too low, and stay too low, he has the discretion to deactivate our squadron. I hope we all share the commitment to not allow that to happen.  School will be out very soon.  If you know anyone who might be interested in joining our squadron, now is the time to invite them to a meeting.

Semper Vigilans!  See you Tuesday!
