NERPA505 Update

Greetings 505!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  My trip to the Staff College has been canceled.  I was informed last night that somehow my registration had been misplaced.  It is a bit disappointing not to be able to go, but I'm glad I won't have to miss any squadron meetings.

(1) Tuesday is testing night.  The uniform of the day is BDUs, sleeves rolled up.  Bring appropriate clothing for PT.  If the track is available at Beatty, we will plan to go there for PT.  Take some time Monday to review your study material.  If you have time, do the practice tests on the Internet.  If you have lost the links, let me know and I will send them again.
(2) Tuesday is also Safety Briefing night.  Everyone, cadets and senoirs, have to be signed off on the safety briefing in order to participate in any activity other than classroom.
(3) If time is available, we will also spend some talking about the upcoming training opportunity at Hearts Content.  Some of the basic equipment that you should try to get together would include 2 canteens, a compass, a whistle, food for the time you plan to stay, enough clothing to keep warm, dry and clean, and to change into if you get wet, tent and sleeping gear if you plan to stay overnight.  The uniform will be BDUs.  Non-military clothing is acceptable if needed to keep warm and dry.  We'll talk about this more at the next 2 meetings.  If you are not able to get the equipment together for some reason, come anyway and learn what you can.  I may be able to come up with some extra gear if there is a need.
(4) I have been in contact with the orgainzers of the Russell Memorial Day Parade.  They want us to return again this year.  They have also offered us a spot to set up an informational display in the fire hall.  Those who plan to participate in the parade need to plan ahead.  Last year, our cadets won Best Marching Unit.
(5) We're here to help you take advantage of everything that CAP has to offer.  Set goals.  Ask questions.  Be eager to learn, and learn from your mistakes.

Semper Vigilans!  See you Tuesday!
