NERPA505 Update

Greetings 505!  I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!

Congratulations are in order for cadet Dillon Farrell who completed requirements for the Wright Brothers Achievement and promotion to C/SSgt.  We appreciate your diligence and effort!  Special thanks to our own Lt Orris and Lt Bill VanEtten, Jamestown Squadron, for an excellent presentation on Fire Safety!  We learned a lot about surviving and escaping a structure fire and appreciate your time and talent!

(1) Tuesday is Character Development emphasis night.  The uniform of the day is USAF blues for cadets and blues or the alternate uniform for seniors.  Cadets need to have participated in at least one Character Development class per achievement in order to be promoted.
(2) Cadets planning to test may do so during the second half of the meeting.  Brief reviews will be made of Aerospace Module 1 and Leadership 2.
(3) 505 will sponsor an Open House on 21 April.  This is a great time to invite friends and family to visit our unit to learn more about what we do.  Lt Hagberg has stated that the cadet who brings the most guests to the meeting will recieve a special prize.  We will also be visited by some the command staff of Group 6 on the same night.  Cadets and senior members need to be sure they are "squared away" in their uniforms and personal appearance.  This will also be a good opportunity to meet and talk to some of our senior leadership.
(4) Be planning ahead for the opportunity to participate in a Search and Rescue training exercise on 15-17 May.  The training wil emphasize ground navigation, but other training will be offered as well.  We should be able to get most of our squadron signed off on Ground Team Member 3 training if they have completed the 116 General Emergency Services test online.  Anyone who has questions, or is having difficulty completing the test online, should inform Lt Hagberg, Lt Orris or Ch (Capt) Matheny.
(5) Finally, if you were not present at the Safety Briefing last week, be sure you read and sign off on the briefing posted on the bulletin board.

Semper Vigilans!  See you Tuesday!
