NERPA505 Update

Greetings from Fort Indiantown Gap!  I hope everyone in 505 had a great weekend!  Those of who attended the Cadet Conference and Dining In have some interesting news to share with you on Tuesday evening.  I'll post a few photos of our trip later.  Thanks to Major Gleming and Capt Fleming for visiting our squadron last Tuesday during our Open House.  Maj. Fleming participated in a promotion ceremony for two cadets and one senior member.  Congratulations to Dillon Farrel on his promotion to C/SSgt and the Wright Brothers Acvhievement.  Congratulations to Evan Matheny on his promotion to C/CMSgt.  Congratulations to Tim Hagberg on his promotion to Captain after serving a full year as squadron commander.  We appreciate the effort that each of you put into the squadron and the CAP!

Thanks to everyone who took the time and made the effort to support our Open House.  We had six visitors, excluding the staff from Group 6.  Two of the visitors expressed interest in joining CAP.

(1) Tuesday is Aerospace Education emphasis night.  The uniform of the day is BDUs, sleeves rolled up.
(2) The training exercise at Hearts Content is less than three weeks away.  I hope everyone is getting squared away for the opportunity.  If you have questions or need information, do not hesitate to ask, and ask soon!
(3) The school year is quickly coming to a close.  Let's all work extra hard to recruit a few more members, cadets and seniors, to fill out our squadron for summer activities.  Make a contact list of everyone you know that you have not talked to yet bout CAP and make it a point to invite them to a meeting.  Let them know what excites you about CAP!
(4) The Wing Encampment at Fort Indiantown Gap is the last week in June.  The application deadline is 3 June, meaning that it has to be at WIng HQ no later than that date.  Hawk Mountain Ranger School is 11-19 July.  Application deadline is 30 June.  Hawk Mountainis optional, but one encampment is necessary before promotion to C/2Lt and the Billy Mitchell Award will be considered.  Cadets who desire to attend need to talk to Lt Hagberg or Capt Matheny as soon as possible.
(5) Chaplain Matheny will be out of town 3-9 May attending a Regional StafF College for Chaplains.

Semper Vigilans!
  See you Tuesday!
