NERPA505 Update - Squadron Dinner, Winterfest, and Tuesday Meeting

Greetings, 505!  It's been a busy, but fun week.  I hope that all of you who participated in squadron activities enjoyed them as much as I did!

First of note, please keep C/SrA Jason Peterson in your prayers.  Jason injured a knee during a wrestling match for the Dragons.

Thanks to everyone who attended the first annual 505 Squadron Dinner last Tuesday.  There were twenty-nine people in attendance and the fellowship was great!  State Rep. Kathy Rapp was the keynote speaker.  She acknowledged the cadets as the leaders of tomorrow, praised them for their commitment to serving community, state and nation in the Civil Air Patrol, and encouraged them carry the responsibilities of citizenship and service into adulthood.  Major Gary Fleming, PAWG Vice Commander (west) and Major Shelly Fleming addressed the assembly and commended the squadron for its progress since its inception.  Major Chuck Wedge gave an an informative presentation on and meeting that he and his wife, Captain Tina Wedge, had with Col. Mary Feik, after whom the third cadet milestone award is named.  Col. Feik is an aviation legend, and often visits CAP cadet functions.  By all accounts, our first dinner was a great success!  I will let you know when I get the photos uploaded to the blog.

Thanks, too, to Captain Hagberg, C/SSgt. Hagberg, C/SSgt. Matheny and C/CMSgt. Matheny, who agreed to work with me in supporting the Warren County Fire Police with parking during the Winterfest.  Everyone did an excellent job and represented the squadron well, receiving many compliments from the Fire Police and Police Explorers that they worked with.  Officer Brandon Deppen and the Police Explorers also did an excellent job and were a credit to our community.

(1) Tuesday is Aerospace Education emphasis night.  The uniform of the day is BDUs.
(2) Cadets who are planning to attend the Basic Cadet Orientation Program at the Ford City Armory on 30-31 Jan. should be sure to download the necessary forms by clicking here.  The documents are in a compressed file.  If you have trouble downloading it, let me know and I will email it directly to you.

  Semper Vigilans!

See you Tuesday!   Be proud of who you are and of what you do in CAP!
